We turned up with another big squad against a strong Portcastrian side. After making some tough decisions before the match the lads who started did very well.
Sam (Goodwin) was very unlucky when the visitors keeper saved well and both teams had good chances, with Dom (Falco) linking up well with the home wingers and front two. The back four, with Andy (Barham) just in front of them, performed well, but it could have been 4-4 at half time instead of goalless.
Rec got a deserved breakthrough when John Bates scored a grand header from a Matt (Wells) corner; 1-0.
The home team increased their lead after great work from Falco, who fed Luke (Dawe) who finished from 20 yards with a great strike; 2-0.
Rec finished the game off in great style when Dawsey tapped home from a yard in a goalmouth scramble; 3-0.
The defence deserved their clean sheet and a very good team performance saw Rec through to the next round. Well done lads!
