Hamworthy Recreation 1 Swanage Town & Herston 1
After Tuesday’s victory it was important for Rec to raise their performance level again against tough opponents in Swanage. Add to this the introduction of Swans “guest players” and it was always going to be a hard fixture.
The greens started brightly and saw several chances come and go, hitting the woodwork and a rare Ryan Lucas miss from the spot and being the dominant side. With the passing and general play Rec could have gone into the half time break with a comfortable lead but it was level at 0-0 and all to play for.
The second period began and was an even battle until Hamworthy scored with Adam Marsh the marksman, running through from the half way line and striking from just outside the area.
Rather than drive home the advantage Rec eased off, sat deep and encouraged their visitors to press for an equalizer.
As the minutes ticked down Swanage threw more and more men forward and 2 minutes into stoppage time got their goal to make it 1-1. A fine save by the Swanage keeper denied Ham Rec a winner with the last kick of the game.
Goals change games and this result could have been a comfortable win for Rec but in the end a draw was a fair result. A dent in Rec’s championship hopes
