A depleted squad travelled to Portland with 5 regulars missing. It shows the depth and quality of their squad that Rec still returned with 3 points.
The first half was even though Ash Boyt was guilty of missing from 5 yards after he had started a great move from the half way line. Five minutes before half time Jamie Moores broke the deadlock with a clinical finish to another good move giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Rec came out for the second half to play against a strong wind. Showing great discipline they kept the ball down and stuck to their passing game. A great save from a superb Dan Manuel volley, plus numerous missed chances, the easiest a metre out from Boyt again, meant the scoreline remained at 1-0, largely thanks to another tremendous display in the away goal by Kevin Leonard.
It could and should have been more but a good 3 points. Jamie D. was not there with the suit or Boyt would have returned home as the masked wonder.
