Sturminster Marshall 1  Hamworthy Recreation 1
2 vital points dropped is the sad truth about this fixture.
Ham Rec started the game in complete control and passed the ball at will. It looked like a repeat score line could be on the cards from when the sides had previously met. Ashley Boyt was making some great runs from the back as was Adam Marsh and even Ricky Walden popped up with an effort on goal from the back.
No matter what the visitors did, they could not score though.  A penalty claim was turned down before 2 excellent home defensive goal line clearances kept the scores level.  Rich Sands hit the bar with a screamer and several other half chances went begging or last ditch tackles denied the “green army”.  Just as half time was approaching Rec got the breakthrough their attacking play deserved. Rec’s Jamie Moores picked the ball up and ran at the home defence before hitting an unstoppable strike to make it 1-0 at half time.
Full of hope and expectation the visitors began second period but they soon lost their way. Early chances came and went before a defensive lapse allowed Stur’s Humphries’ deflected effort to beat Kevin Leonard in the Rec goal to make the scores level.
Rec then lost their shape and discipline and did not look like the same team from the first period. Credit is due to Stur, their hard work made it difficult for the visitors.  Little action went Leonard’s way but the Stur keeper had little to do himself. The home post was struck with Ryan Lucas unable to follow it up and several wrong decisions were made by players when looking to shoot or pass.
2 points dropped it has to be said but maybe a wake up call to all involved and much improvement is needed all round.
