Suttoners Civil 1  Ham Rec Res. 1
After a great win against Sway we went into this game confident of a victory. We started well and had a blatant penalty turned down in the 1st minute when Rob Hatchard was bundled to the ground; the referee clearly thought it was too early to make such a decision and let play continue. Although on top we missed a series of really good chances.  Suttoners weren't really troubling our defence but against the run of play they took the lead. Their right winger wasn't closed down and swung a deep cross into the box catching out Tom in goal and allowing their striker to score with an easy header.  We were still very much on top but with the amount of chances we were missing I was starting to think it wasn't going to be our day.
Another stone wall penalty was turned down when Dykes’s shot was brilliantly saved by a Suttoners DEFENDER right under the nose of the referee. How the ref claimed it was not a deliberate handball is beyond me!!
We then put together some neat passing before Ash Ayley fired in a great goal from the edge of the box to make it 1.1 going into half time.
The second half started well for us but we still couldn't take our chances.  With yet another obvious penalty being turned down when Dykesey was fouled from behind, even though the ref was right there he chose not to give us what would of been our third penalty of the day.
Dawsey came on up front as we went in search of a winner. He also had a decision go against him when his goal (that looked perfectly ok from where we were standing) was ruled out for offside.
There was still time for the ref to embarrass himself one more time. Dawsey went on a mazy run only to be brought down by a Suttoners defender. However the ref in his wisdom did not give it - again.
That was the last action of the game, although we had a ref who talked a good game but was afraid to make any big decisions we still should have won the game and with Electric to play on Saturday we need to start taking our chances if we are going to have any chance of winning this league.  Bananaman Rees forgot to bring the Bananaman costume along with him and had to get his Dad to bring it so he was awarded it for the 2nd week in a row and fined heavily for his trouble, I hope you remember it this week Thomas!!!
