Redlynch & Woodfalls 2  Ham Rec Res. 2

On a terrible day and pitch this was never going to be a classic.  Although we had a depleted squad we still had enough quality players to beat the team who were bottom of the league!!!  We started fairly well with Josh Whelan and Luke Dawe looking lively up front.  Wayne Hole was also looking good out on the left and put some great crosses in that unfortunately our strikers couldn't get on the end of.  Duds also went close when his deflected effort went just wide of the post, unfortunately that was about all the highlights of a 1st half when we were awful, we went 1 down when a clumsy tackle by Kyle Barrington led to a penalty that the Redlynch striker buried. It wasn't long before we were 2 down when some more shambolic defending led to Redlynch's second. We went in at half time 2 down.

After some heated words at halftime we started the 2nd half well and started to have a go at them.  It was all us as we looked to try and get something out of the game. We went close on a couple of occasions and had a stone wall penalty turned down, this was mainly because the referee was a disgrace who didn't seem able to leave the centre circle (and Sir Alex thinks Refs aren't fit in the Premier League). Paul Maitland was keeping us in the game with some great saves, on the one occasion he was beaten Wayne Hole was on hand to clear the ball from the line. A fired up Phil and Gav had now taken control of the midfield and it wasn't long before Gav hit a great 25 yard screamer to make it 2.1. With the game slipping away we threw on Tom Rees up front hoping his height and pace would cause them a few problems, with only minutes remaining we got a corner and in the scramble that followed Dan Notley was on hand to slide the ball into the net to get us a an equaliser.  After the 1st half performance when a few of the lads were truly awful I was pleased with a point in the end, however with a big game coming up next week a few of us need to get our fingers out.
