Blandford Utd 2  Ham Rec 4
Blandford were always going to be a tough side to beat, especially off the back of a good win against Wincanton the previous week.
What happened in the 1st minute was unbelievable. After 8 years of impeccable service Kevin Leonard in the visitor’s goal made a mistake! Yes, that’s right, rub your eyes in disbelief, but it happened and Rec were one down to a Mark Ford “strike” (sneaked in at the near post - which was well covered by Lenny’s ample frame!!); 0-1. (Sorry to put it to print Lenny!!).  Make sure you don't do it again for another 8 years or so please!!
Rec got themselves back into the game shortly after this with Dan Blackburn getting the goal; 1-1. Unfortunately, shortly after getting back on level terms Nick Plank decided he wanted the Batman outfit and took an air shot to allow Mark Ford to score has and the Royals 2nd to put the hosts 2-1 ahead.  Some blame can be attributed to the pitch though Plank should have cleared.
Although the visitors were far from their best every time they went forward Mike Notley and Jamie Moores were causing the home defence problems. It was only a matter of time before Rec equalized but not without a scare or two along the way.  Rich Sands got back in amongst the goals to make it 2 each with a close range header.
The goals from midfield this season are going a long way to Hamworthy’s current run coupled with the goals from their front pairing.  Notley was put through minutes after the equalizer and confidently ran 40 yards before slotting the ball home to give the visitors 3-2 half-time lead.
Several wrongs were corrected by the visitors at half time but the second half was not a great deal better than the 1st.  Rec looked more organised defensively with Danny Hounsell getting more into the game.
Both sides created half chances but Rec looked the more likely to score. Moores did just that with an excellent far post header out jumping the tallest player in the league; 4-2.
Rec saw the rest of the game out getting the odd scare along the way. It was not the prettiest display of the season but sometimes teams have to dig deep and win ugly if they are to achieve their aim of winning the league.
