Ham Rec 2 Parley 0
The visit from Parley was always going to be a tough fixture. A good, newly promoted side with nothing to lose, the added spice of the game being a local derby and with some old players returning to the Rec. The visitors lined up with just the one forward so their game plan was clear from the outset.
Fortunately for the “Green Army”, (the latest shout from the men on the hill, much owing to the AVIVA tv advert) Jamie Moores scored after 20 mins which somewhat left Parley not knowing what to do. The home side failed to create too many good chances with the lack of space but were in total control with Kevin Leonard in the home goal enjoying the late summer sunshine with little to do.
The second half was much the same story. Parley’s only chance was thwarted by a fantastic Jamie Davidson block. Rec carried on playing their football but could not score past their rivals’ keeper. Hamworthy’s 2nd goal came courtesy of “TV star” Rich Sands who made the game safe for Rec.
Another much welcomed three points with the lads not playing at their best but credit to Parley for working hard and giving them little time or space.
