Hamworthy Rec 3  Poole Borough 2

Last minute penalty secures all three points for Hamworthy.

In their first home game of the season Ham Rec secured all 3 points after a lively encounter with Poole Borough. 2 minutes into his home debut Dan Hayson rose to head home, unfortunately for the visitors! 0-1.  The home side did not let this affect them and went about playing their usual passing game.  Minutes later Ash Boyt burst through after a great move and slotted the ball home to level the score; 1-1.  Although Rec looked to play and looked more dangerous than ‘Boro’ the visitors did have long spells of the ball but without really threatening.  On his home debut, Rich Sands backed up some good performances in pre season, by opening his account to put us up 2-1 at half time.

Rec should have put the game beyond their opponents early in the 2nd half but some poor finishing and good goalkeeping kept the score 2-1.  Another dubious, if not outrageous penalty, was awarded to Poole only for Kevin Leonard to save his 2nd spot kick in 2 games, justice done.  The Hornets continued to press and gained an equalizer with James Pinder scoring a good goal, just after more good chances went begging for us; 2-2.  With time running out and draw looking likely Ryan Lucas drew the ‘Boro’ keeper
