Parley Sports 1  Hamworthy Recreation 5
The visit to Parley was another potential banana skin as they have proven time and time again that they compete and beat the top sides. A spirited home side, full of pace and good movement, took to the field looking to defeat the Greens.
An even start to the game saw waves of play go end to end but with neither side getting a real chance on goal.  Rec was getting some joy down both flanks with Rich Sands and Wayne Hole looking dangerous.
It was after a move down the left that the Greens took the lead. After some good work from Hole and a goalmouth scramble, Mike Notley was on hand to put his side ahead; 1-0.
There was not much to choose between the sides but Rec seemed to have a little more cutting edge in attack.
Ash Boyt made a familiar raid into Parleys box before curling a side foot shot past the keeper to make it 2-0.
Parley heads did not drop and the next goal would be vital. The half time whistle came first with the score 2-0 to the visitors.
Early in the second period Rec scored that vital third goal. A move starting from the visitor’s left back position saw Sands get a tap in to give the scoreline a nice look; 3-0.
Still Parley played at pace and caused the Green rear guard problems. They were rewarded with a goal when a great break at pace saw the right winger deliver a pin point cross that was headed home by Ben Bosley; 3-1.
The next ten minutes were tight and another Parley goal would have set up a grandstand finish.
Rec’s 4th goal was a gift after a badly placed Parley back pass found Notley who rounded the home keeper to slot home his second of the game and ensure Rec took home three points; 4-1.
Notley had time to get his third of the day, and his team’s fifth, before the final whistle to give Rec a 5-1 win.
A better performance against a young, hungry, energetic side.
